Proud to live in Minnesota today!

Once again Minnesota proves itself worthy of having me live in it 😉

As we listened from Spain to the Minnesota Senate debate the marriage equality bill, many senators were quoting Hubert Humphrey’s 1948 speech in which he called for the Democratic Party “to walk forthrightly into the bright sunshine of human rights” and encouraging the state of Minnesota to take that step.

But I say, why not go for the really big money quote? “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

Hello Minnesota, meet justice.

The governor hasn’t signed the bill yet, but he will. Some day, the 38 laggard states will catch up. Until then, we can just be happy we live in the North Star State, guiding the way once again for middle America to follow.

We are incredibly happy for our friends, our children, ourselves.

“Such stuff as dreams are made on”

Election night in Minnesota from Spain: 1:36 AM Minnesota time/8:36 AM Siles time.

In Minnesota, the right side is winning almost everything we could imagine winning (though our “favorite” congresswoman seems to be holding on to her crazy district).  There’s gonna be popcorn and soda in our house this afternoon! Big Bird is saved!

If this is a dream, I don’t want to wake up.
